Here's the recipe I use for pizza sauce:
8 oz. can of tomato sauce
7.5 oz. can of undrained tomatoes (I like fire-roasted)
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 Tbs. dried basil ~ crushed
1 Tbs. dried oregano ~ crushed
1 tsp. sugar (I use an equivalent measure of Equal, rather than sugar)
2 cloves garlic ~ minced1/4 tsp. pepper
Add all of the above ingredients to a cold pot on the stove.
While bringing the mixture to a boil, crush the tomatoes in the pot with a potato masher.
Once you've got a boil going, reduce the heat to a simmer. Cover.
Cook about 10 minutes, remove the lid. Onions will be tender.
Cook on a slow simmer to reduce sauce to a thickened consistency, perfect for spreading on the pizza crust. Taste as you go, adjust flavors/spices as desired. How to fit this pizza crust into your diet:
Keto - weigh your toppings, pay attention to your macros, and enjoy.
Paleo - I don't know if you can have this crust due to the Parmesan cheese (let me know in the comments below); you might be able to enjoy the delicious sauce, though. As with any diet, it's always a good idea to check your guidelines. Here's a link to the source I use frequently: http://paleogrubs.com/paleo-diet#8
Whole 30 - follow Whole 30 guidelines. Due to the cheese, this style of crust may be off-limits while you're on the program but, again, you may be able to enjoy the delicious sauce on top of a salad. Sans sugar and sugar substitutes, of course.
Mmm! Dinner!
